UPDATE: THIS SHELTER IS OVER FILLED WITH RABBITS. PLEASE DON\'T DUMP YOUR RABBIT!!!! IT WILL END UP EUTHANIZED (KILLED)!!!!
Read below what FUR can do to help you find a new home for your unwanted rabbit instead of taking it to a shelter.
THIS SHELTER ONLY HAS ROOM TO HOUSE 6 RABBITS AT A TIME. The FUR program does not have room to rescue anymore rabbits until we get some adoptions. Please consider adopting one of these lovely rabbits from the shelter.
BEFORE DUMPING A RABBIT at a shelter where it more then likely will be euthanized, consider emailing a picture and description of the rabbit to teamfur@gmail.com. The Friends of Unwanted Rabbits (FUR) will place the rabbits picture on their website, www.teamfur.org, along with your contact information. Anyone interested in adopting the rabbit will contact you directly. Folks looking for rabbits are familiar with the FUR website. Your rabbit will get more exposure and will have a better chance at being adopted as opposed to dying at a shelter due to a lack of space. For more information call the FUR message line 916-710-0105 or email teamfur@gmail.com.
Rabbits make wonderful indoor pets and are easily litter box trained. They are very social and there are many dangers outdoors, preditors that can kill them, they can escape easily through small spaces, and they cannot be out doors if it is over 80 degrees, why because a rabbits internal tempature is between 101 to 103 degrees. Call FUR at 916-710-0105 and leave a message for a volunteer to call you and answer your rabbit care related questions.
Consider alternative\'s to dumping rabbits at a shelter. The FUR program will help find new homes but cannot take the rabbits in to the program. The owner will have to house the rabbit(s) until we can help find new homes. This is a Win Win situation, the rabbits are safe from euthanasia and the owner can feel good about taking responsibility for finding their rabbit a new home.
If your interested in volunteering to work with the rabbits call 916-710-0105 and leave a message.
