One of the biggest attractions in Taiwan is the National Palace Museum.  Thousands of objects that once lived in the Forbidden City ended up here -- and now it\'s the most complete collection of rare Chinese artifacts in the world.

This video shows the buildings of the Palace Museum, built specially to hold the collection.  I was able to spend several hours here, and waa able to take a very long, detailed enlish tour of both the jade and painting collections.

My driver was fascinated by how many photos I was taking from the car as we drove around northern Taiwan (between Hsinchu and Taipai, and around Taipai).  So he took me to this hotel, just so I could take a picture of it.  I leared later it was a very popular spot for local tourists to visit.

Something new for me:  A truck carrying crates of large buddha statues.  No complaints!

Some of the ubiquitous scooters.  Across asia, each country has a preffered method of transport.  In Taiwan, it\'s the scooter.

Since Hsinchu is only briefly mentioned in english-langauge guidebooks (and online) I had to enlist the hotel staff to assist me with finding vegetarian restaurants.  Although very informal, this was the best Chinese vegetarian food I found in town.  Recommended!

My colleagues took me to some great lunches.  I would have had trouble getting veggie food on my own in those places, but with a little assistance, it worked well.  Here, we are pictured...
