Salvia Divinorum Extraction Articles
A Few Words of Caution: Salvia divinorum salvinorin is not for everyone! Most people only try it once and find the experience too much for them to want to endure again. Never attempt to smoke or imbibe any amount of concentrated Salvia divinorum extract through any means or method including unrefined extract which is still far too potent to be directly used in the impure form. If you have not done so please go to this web site for more information about the possible negative effects of imbibing too much salvinorin:  http://www.sagewisdom.org/caution.html

These extraction and refinement methods were worked out and written by an amateur experimenter at a time and place where legal to do so. The solvents mentioned in these documents are very flammable and can be easily ignited by red hot surfaces, open flame, electric or static spark! I am not an organic chemist and am not a trained professional in a field related to botany, chemistry or the manufacture of medicines or pharmaceuticals. Because of this I am unable to advise you how to safely handle and work with solvents or advise on their proper use for the manufacture of human consumable products. Anything written in these documents are not intended to imply anything produced by these methods can safely be used as a food or drug.

Although I am NOT a doctor or a psychologist and unqualified to give you medical advice in regard to the proper or improper use of Salvia divinorum, its extract and or its active principle salvinorin-A for use as a drug, I will give you my opinion and views on the subject, however flawed they may be.  While I strive to present proper and correct views on the following subjects I am not an expert on anything presented here. Anything provided here or through the links on this web page may change at any time without notice.

Please Note: Some States in the USA and a few countries are now controlling Salvia divinorum, if you live in one of those States or places obey the law. Its better you travel to a place where it isn\'t illegal to do what you want than to risk breaking the law imposed upon us by some of our representatives, once in office.

Chilled acetone extraction.pdf
This extraction method reduces the amount of waxy compounds extracted from the leaf yielding a much purer extract. Simple refinement methods are explained using naphtha and 99% isopropanol to dilute and if desired completely remove waxy lipids from the extract at increasing cost to yield for higher purities. Over 50 photographs showing the process of extracting leaf and refining the extract.

Methods to crystalline salvinorin.pdf
This article explains three different methods which can be used to obtain crystalline salvinorin.

1. Evaporation.
2. Hot Alcohol.
3. Isolation from extract.

Last update January 1, 2007. Added text. I believe I found the problem with method three which caused some individuals to be unable to reproduce it, edited into text to boil or cook the leaf prior to extraction when desiring to isolate the crystals from the black wax extract itself.

Submitted by redgreenvines showing how he disperses salvinorin containing acetone onto cigarette papers.

The dark grid you see is a strand of thread wound around a shallow metalic box with the papers to be infused placed on top of the thread and wound around again over the papers to hold them in place.
